Frequently asked questions

What works without signing in?

Local recipes, pantry, recommendations, and venue records work without an account. Private sync and brand collaboration have Apple/iCloud requirements; member features such as expiry reminders and party planning require an active subscription.

Why is my membership still locked after purchase?

Open Membership and choose Restore Purchases. Confirm the current App Store account made the purchase. Your HomadeBar sign-in links the entitlement and is different from the purchasing account. If it still fails, email the app version, subscription type, approximate purchase time, and only necessary redacted screenshots. Hide your name, email, billing address, and payment information. Do not send a full receipt, card data, or your Apple password.

How do I cancel renewal?

Use Apple subscription management. Deleting the app, signing out, or deleting the HomadeBar account does not cancel a subscription.

How do I restore data on a new phone?

First confirm private sync completed on the old device. On the new device, use the same iCloud account, stay online, and enable sync again. Data that was never synced or had not finished uploading cannot be guaranteed to restore.

Why did cloud sync fail?

Check iCloud sign-in and access, available storage, network, membership, and the error shown in the app. Do not uninstall first; that could remove local data that has not synced.

How do brand invitations and roles work?

Accept through the system sharing invitation. Owners manage the brand, members, and content; collaborators with active membership can edit; visitors are read-only. The same person uses the same Apple identity across devices, while each different user must accept an invitation.

What is the difference between leaving and dissolving a brand?

Leaving removes your access and local copy while the owner’s shared content remains. Only the owner can dissolve a brand, which requests deletion of the complete shared cloud zone. The app reports a failure if that request does not finish.

Why did I not receive an expiry reminder?

First check that Notifications is on under Profile and that HomadeBar notifications are allowed in Settings. Then confirm the stock lot has a future expiry date and lead time. Expiry reminders are a member feature: they pause while membership is inactive and resume automatically once it is restored. Expired, archived, empty, or undated lots are not scheduled.

What are activity notifications, and how do I turn them off?

Activity notifications announce new activities and content updates. They share the iOS notification permission shown under Profile → Notifications with expiry reminders; there is no separate activity notification switch. To turn notifications off, disable Allow Notifications for HomadeBar in iOS Settings. This also stops expiry reminders from being delivered. After allowing notifications again, open HomadeBar to refresh its notification status. Permission does not mean an activity message will arrive immediately; messages depend on actual publishing schedules.

How are party amounts calculated, and when is stock deducted?

Plans estimate amounts from group size, drinks per guest, cocktail ratio, selected recipes, and units. Viewing a plan does not change stock. At End Party, choose a plan to deduct from current inventory, or choose End Only to keep inventory unchanged.

Who can see my photos?

Ordinary photos stay on device by default. With private sync they enter your private CloudKit. A photo attached to a brand recipe is visible to authorized members of that brand and is not public.

What happens to data and subscriptions after sign-out or deletion?

Sign-out keeps local personal content, private cloud data, and the subscription. Delete Account requests deletion of owned brands, leaves joined brands, and deletes private sync data; after cloud deletion succeeds, it also clears local recipes, inventory, check-ins, parties, profile data, and photos. Cancel Apple subscriptions separately. See the Privacy Policy.
